Responsibility & Impact

Diamonds forged
by nature. Returned

The jewelry industry has a profound relationship with the earth. At Indigo and across the SV Group, we believe that relationship demands accountability — to the planet, to the communities near our mines and factories, and to the people we employ.

The Industry Context

Why sustainability
is not optional

The jewelry industry sits at a unique intersection of nature, craft, and commerce. Diamonds and precious metals are gifts of the earth — and their extraction carries a real environmental and human cost. As a responsible player in this industry, we take that seriously.

Retail buyers, end consumers, and institutional partners increasingly require — and deserve — transparency. ESG credentials are no longer a "nice to have"; they are a prerequisite for doing business with the world's leading retailers, brands, and investors.

At Indigo and across the SV Group, we do not treat sustainability as a compliance exercise. It is embedded in how we source, how we manufacture, how we employ, and how we give back — reflecting values that our founders instilled from day one in 1978.

Responsible Sourcing

From mine to market —
transparently

As a longstanding De Beers Group Sightholder, SV Group procures rough diamonds directly from mining operations that comply with the Kimberley Process and the De Beers Best Practice Principles. Every stone that enters our supply chain is natural, conflict-free, and traceable.

We believe the provenance of a gemstone is as important as its brilliance. Our clients — and their customers — deserve to know that the beauty they purchase was created without exploiting people or the planet.

Caring for All Life

A dedicated cattle camp at Deesa, Gujarat, provides shelter, food and medical treatment for sick and elderly cattle. Buildings and shade structures have been constructed to offer dignified care for animals that can no longer fend for themselves.

Cultural Heritage

Preserving places of peace

The SV Group has funded the construction of a dharamshala — a Jain pilgrimage rest house — at Palitana, Gujarat. The facility houses 34 rooms and four halls with a canteen, providing safe and comfortable accommodation for thousands of pilgrims every year.

This reflects the founders' deep-rooted belief that business success carries with it a duty to support cultural, spiritual and community infrastructure — particularly for those who have the least.

Environmental Commitments

Manufacturing that respects the earth

Our factories are built to the standards of the international diamond industry — minimising environmental impact at every stage of the manufacturing process.

Responsible Waste Management

Metal filings, swarf and polishing residues are carefully collected, segregated and recycled through certified processes — ensuring precious metals never enter landfill.

Chemical treatment baths and water-intensive polishing processes are managed with closed-loop systems where possible, reducing consumption and preventing contamination of local water sources.

Energy Efficiency

Our SEEPZ factory is built to the standards of India's Special Economic Zones, which mandate modern, energy-efficient infrastructure. LED lighting, smart HVAC systems and efficient machinery reduce our operational carbon footprint.

📦

Sustainable Packaging

We work with our B2B partners to develop packaging that minimises plastic use and maximises recyclable materials — an increasingly important factor in the US and European retail markets we serve.

"Our industry takes from the earth. It is our responsibility — and our privilege — to give something meaningful back."
